Finca El Ángel is the sixth and latest addition to the Silva family's operation, purchased in December 2022. Before the family took over, El Ángel belonged to the Mathies family, who established the farm in 2018 and processed their coffees at the Silva's mill in Apaneca. After tasting the results of the first harvest in late 2021, Rafael Jr. and the Mathies family agreed on a sale, bringing El Ángel into the fold. Located high on the slopes of the Santa Ana volcano, the farm is planted exclusively with coffee, growing five distinct varieties including Red and Orange Bourbon, Pacamara, SL-28, and Geisha. This lot comes from the farm's Red Bourbon trees, naturally processed by drying whole cherries slowly on raised beds. It's an approach that concentrates sweetness and fruit character, resulting in a coffee that's syrupy and juicy, with bright notes of red currant and grapefruit.
